Bob Poe to Challenge Sarah Palin for Governor

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- If Gov. Sarah Palin decides to run for a second term, at least one person has come forward to say he's ready to battle it out.

Democrat Bob Poe said he plans to seek his party's nomination for the next gubernatorial election in 2010.

Poe is a former state commissioner, and he previously served as the CEO of the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation.

He said he's ready to take on the state's top job, and he's doing it, in part, because Palin hasn't been paying enough attention to the needs of the state.

"It's a really big deal to most Alaskans how our economy moves forward and the role state government has in that," Poe said. "I'm concerned that right now there's not much attention to running state government, there's a lot of attention to running for something else."

This should prove an interesting test for Governor Palin. If she intends to seek the Republican nomination for President in 2012, she will have to begin spending some serious time on that effort in 2010.

How Hard Is This Puzzle?

A few months ago I stumbled on an interesting puzzle quite by accident. When writing “Ponzi schemes, bubbles and fraud” (The County Edge, August 22, 2008), I was looking at a Google Earth picture of River Dunes and noticed that trees near an area with serious erosion appeared to be dying for no obvious reason. In seeking to understand the erosion, I discovered the people of Eastern North Carolina may be just as endangered as those trees.

When the fresh water in our rivers, including the underground streams, flows to the coast it encounters the salt water of the ocean. The fresh water is what keeps the salt water out of the rivers and aquifers in the East. If the flow of fresh water diminishes, salt water can move farther inland.

Wells are an important source of water for many people throughout the state. While some wells draw from underground rivers and streams, a large number of wells in eastern NC draw from aquifers which are like underground lakes. Anyone familiar with aquifers is aware that drawing too much water from an aquifer can actually cause the land to sink (subside) and may cause wells to go dry and have to be dug deeper; an aquifer can be depleted.

When an aquifer containing dissolved substances is depleted, if you reduce the amount of water without removing those substances in the same proportion, you obviously increase the concentration of the substances in the remaining water. Think of the Dead Sea underground; ask yourself why it is called the Dead Sea.

So what is killing the trees? Here are some clues:

Mining – Clue #1

“Loss of water supplies because of mining often leads to severe hardships for the supply users, with a resultant need to haul in water from outside sources or to replace lost supplies with deeper wells where appropriate. . . companies will often replace such lost supplies with new wells, to keep good relationships with surface-land owners and to avoid lawsuits. . .lawsuits usually result when there is major disagreement about the cause or source for a water loss problem. . .” (From a study of aquifer dewatering in West Virginia)

The Artist Van Gogh – Clue #2

Environmental exposure to cadmium has been particularly problematic in Japan where many people have consumed rice that was grown in cadmium contaminated irrigation water. This phenomena is known under the name Itai-itai disease . . . . Some sources of phosphate in fertilizers contain Cadmium in amounts of up to 100 mg/kg, which can lead to an increase in the concentration of Cadmium in soil . . . .” (Wikipedia)

Bureaucratese – Clue #3

“DWR [Division of Water Resources] has invested well over one million dollars and many person hours since 1998 to improve the monitoring well network throughout the state, and especially in the central coastal plain area . . . Monitoring stations are drilled to allow us to see both the extent of the over-drafting situation and the recovery of water levels as investments in
alternative water supplies come to fruition. . .they are positioned so as to provide a more detailed picture of the cone of depression beneath the CCP in each of the major aquifers. . . Chloride concentrations are now measured on a subset of network wells . . .”

“For the most part, conditions have worsened in the CCPCUA.” (Central Coastal Plain Capacity Use Area Assessment Report, August, 2008)

Translated into plain English, the problem DWR is monitoring in the CCPCUA has many parts including subsidence, salt water encroachment, and poisonous concentrations of naturally occurring elements. So what caused the problem and why have state officials and major papers failed to adequately warn the general public?

Global Warming?

While some see rising sea water levels due to climate change as a major threat to oceanfront property around the world, not just in NC, an August 2007 Conference Report prepared by The Nicholas Institute at Duke University notes that “North Carolina’s coast is among the most vulnerable . . .[because] Over 1.2 million acres in North Carolina are below one meter in elevation. Further, North Carolina’s coastal sea level rise is effectively double the global average because of land subsidence at the coast.”

I’m told that some land in eastern North Carolina that used to be farmed is now wetland unsuitable for farming. Residential property owners up and down the coast feel threatened, and taxpayers throughout the state are being called on to repair roads like Highway 12 which are under attack from the ocean. But how much of the problem is rising water and how much is falling land? The costs of subsidence in North Carolina are easily placed in the billions by the Nicholas Institute report.

And what is causing the subsidence? Could it be a major dewatering operation associated with mining?

Redneck Environmentalist Blames PCS Mine and Politicians

Dale Swiggett has been trying to alert the public to the danger posed by contaminated water in eastern North Carolina for months, and he has not minced words or hidden behind bureaucratese. The major papers have ignored a major story.

I first became aware of Swiggett in July 2008 when I received a copy of a notice he paid to have published in Pamlico County. It said “serious issues now exist regarding the quality of Pamlico County drinking water and public health. . . Please accept this letter as notice of this immediate crisis of health, life and death for the citizens of Pamlico County.”

In subsequent emails he explicitly linked the PCS mine and its large withdrawals of water from the Castle Hayne Aquifer to many problems. Swiggett strongly suggests the lack of state action is due to a number of prominent individuals, including political figures and government employees, whom he has been naming in his Environmental Corruption Deck of Cards. For example, he assigned the Queen of Spades to Leah Devlin, NC State Health Director.

The Coastal Federation knew in 2001 that “decades of mining have caused levels of cadmium in reclaimed soils and ponds to concentrate at more than 300 times background levels” (NC Coastal Federation Press Release, October 23, 2001) yet Swiggett alleges he was offered mine waste to use as fill in 2006 and says that was so common many driveways in the area glow in the dark.

On December 29th a retired Hyde County engineer, Glenn Hockney, filed a $500,000,000 civil suit against PCS Phosphate for damages caused to the people of Hyde County. “In the complaint, Hockney also blames “State of North Carolina Environmental Departments” for a failure “to protect Hyde County People.” He asks for an immediate court order to stop all PCS
pumping from the aquifer, an amount Hockney contends averages 78 million gallons per day.” (Pamlico News, January 6, 2008)

When contacted by a reporter for the Pamlico News, a spokesperson for the mine said “We cannot comment because we have not yet been served with the lawsuit,” an interesting response since the company had already scheduled a meeting January 5, 2009, with Hockney and a DENR employee, apparently to try to address Hockney’s concerns.

Oh yes, and on January 5, 2009, the Raleigh News and Observer announced “Leah Devlin, the longtime state health director, is retiring.”

I have neve really blogged here on a consistent basis, and I have finally realized it is time to stop.

I have several other projects that demand my time, and I will let this blog shut down, and I will get around to deleting it in the next few days, after I have archived everything at home.

West Carolina Report, and associated blog....This is my newest project. I have created a Drudge-clone for reporting headlines of local and sate news. I have the main page up and running, and will have four other pages up within the next 90 days, if all goes according to schedule.

WNC Citizens Blog....This is perhaps an earlier incarnation of what I am attempting at WCR, but I plan on keeping it around, an use it for community blogging, and to train future bloggers as it is a Group Blog.

I also have a Photo Blog, which I occaisionally neglect.

I am a member of The 910 Group, and if you want to pitch in, and try to stop the bleeding of Western Civilization, you are welcome to check it out, and consider joining, sending your curiculum vitae as directed at the website.

I guess you could say I went from wanting to blog about World War IV, to being depressed about our lack of progress (or even acknowledgement), and not blogging about it. Then one day this past fall, a movement was born out of synchronicity.

630 Two years before Muhammad's death of a fever, he launches the Tabuk Crusades, in which he led 30,000 jihadists against the Byzantine Christians. He had heard a report that a huge army had amassed to attack Arabia, but the report turned out to be a false rumor. The Byzantine army never materialized. He turned around and went home, but not before extracting 'agreements' from northern tribes. They could enjoy the 'privilege' of living under Islamic 'protection' (read: not be attacked by Islam), if they paid a tax (jizya).

This tax sets the stage for Muhammad's and the later Caliphs' policies. If the attacked city or region did not want to convert to Islam, then they paid a jizya tax. If they converted, then they paid a zakat tax. Either way, money flowed back to the Islamic treasury in Arabia or to the local Muslim governor.

So, when some one tells you that the Christian Crusades were an Imperialistic action against Islam, you can tell them it was merely a defensive action for survival against a truly barbaric enemy. Would that we had the same philosophy now!

Similarities between Ezekiel's prophecies, today's Mideast reality uncanny

Current world events are beginning to increasingly resemble the 2,500 year old bible prophecy made by Ezekiel in chapters 38-39. Ezekiel foresaw the rise of Russia (or Turkey, depending on the interpretation) in a coalition with Iran and other Middle Eastern countries (Sudan, Ethiopia and Libya).

The coalition is foretold to attack Israel from the north in a bid to destroy it during the earth's "last days," commonly known as the "war of Gog and Magog."

Throughout history it was thought that the prophecy had been put on hold, until perhaps today when it seems frighteningly more feasible.

In Joel C. Rosenberg's book "The Ezekiel Option," the author points to Ezekiel's prophecies in chapters 36-37, which have largely come true.

Rosenberg then asks the obvious question: If prophecies such as "the rebirth of the State of Israel, the return of the Jews to the Holy Land after centuries in exile, the re-blossoming of desolate desert land to produce abundant food, fruit and foliage, and the creation of an exceedingly great army" materialized in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, then why shouldn't the next prophecies come true in our lifetime?

Let's try and place the biblical names and locations into today's reality, and see the parallel unfolding of events:

Gog is commonly believed to represent a person's name rather than a place, a tyrannical leader who may hatch an evil plan – in today's reality this "honor" could be most suited to the President of Iran, Ahmadinejad, or perhaps Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon .

Magog, according to some scholars, refers to Russia and the republics of the former Soviet Union, or perhaps Turkey. Others will argue that the exact location has not been fully ascertained and that the word Magog may simply be a generalization for an enemy of Israel, leaving the location open.

Commentary

Don't forget that the attack comes when Israel is living in peace, and with out walls around their cities. I think that someone will have to guarantee their peace before that happens, and I don't think that the current United Nations will guarantee anything but the annihilation of Israel, and sadly, our current administration seems to be turning against Israel.
I think the upcoming war with Iran, Syria, and others will lead to the "global community" stepping in to "guarantee peace," and disarming Israel in the process, making the miracle of God stepping in to save Israel all that more effective when Gog and Magog make their move.

North Korean Hydrogen Bomb?

Over the course of the past week there are enough reports and credible rumors circulating just below the surface to make the following assessment and forecast of near-term possibilities or probabilities:

1.) The now offically acknowledged nuclear test conducted by North Korea a week ago yesterday was actually a test of the first-stage of a two stage hydrogen bomb. The sub-kiloton blast is assessed to have been a complete success.

2.) The much-rumored upcoming test is expected or anticipated in US military cirlces to be a test of both stages of a hydrogen warhead. The consensus is that North Korea plans to test its hydrogen bomb as soon as possible, possibly sometime this week.

Pakistan's intelligence agency was behind the train blasts in Mumbai in July that killed 186 people, Indian police say.
The attacks were planned by the ISI and carried out by the Islamist militant group Lashkar-e-Toiba, based in Pakistan, Mumbai's police chief said.

AN Roy said the Students' Islamic Movement of India had also assisted.

Pakistan rejected the allegations and said India had given no evidence of Pakistani involvement in the attacks.

"We have solved the 11 July bombings case. The whole attack was planned by Pakistan's ISI and carried out by Lashkar-e-Toiba and their operatives in India," Mumbai (Bombay) police commissioner AN Roy told a news conference.

With the US election occuring on November 7, the stated 'window' of this of this WMD strike coincides precisely with the day following the end of Ramadan 2006 (24 October 2006) and the four subsequent days thereafter (25-28 October 2006).

Sheik Abu Saqer, leader of Gaza's Jihadia Salafiya Islamic outreach movement, which seeks to make secular Muslims more religious, called the pope a "puppet" for "that Crusader George Bush."

The Gaza imam said the only Christian-Muslim dialogue that is acceptable is one in which "all religions agree to convert to Islam."

"The call for so-called dialogue by this little racist pope is a Trojan horse with the main goal of reaching a new system in which the ideals [of Christianity] are a new ideology that will rule relations between nations and people. The dialogue he wants is dangerous," said Abu Saqer, speaking to WND from the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis.

A good starting point for exploring this work is Andrew Black's (writing for Jamestown) comparison of al-Suri's work with that of William Lind in The Changing Face of War: Into the Fourth Generation. Andrew claims that al-Suri's work provides organizational improvements in fourth generation warfare (which are akin to what I am working on here on global guerrillas).

I disagree. Here's why. Al-Suri's slogan for his treatise -- "system, not organization" -- encapsulates his desire for extreme decentralized at the expense of organizational hierarchy. The objective of this desired decentralization is, obviously, to imbue the Salafi-jihad with vast improvements in survivability and innovation. While the objective is correct, al-Suri's call for decentralization doesn't work in practice within real-world conflicts and organizational structures.

Attacks on Yemen oil plants kill 5

Suicide bombers tried to strike two oil facilities in Yemen with explosives-packed cars, but authorities foiled the attacks and four bombers and a security guard were killed, the government said Friday.

The attempts came ahead of this week's presidential elections, in which President Ali Abdullah Saleh faces a serious challenge for the first time since he became head of state in 1978.

They also came days after al-Qaida's No. 2, Ayman al-Zawahri, issued a videotaped threat of attacks on the Persian Gulf and on facilities he blamed for stealing Muslim oil.

Friday's attacks happened 35 minutes apart, targeting a Yemeni oil refinery in the northeast province of Mareb and a Canadian-Yemeni oil storage facility at the Dubba Port in Haramut province — scene of a 2002 attack on the French tanker Limburg, an Interior Ministry statement said.

The statement said an investigation was under way to determine the identity of the "terrorist elements" behind the attacks.

Fourteen of 23 al-Qaida prisoners who escaped from jail in February remain still at large. The escape raised questions about Yemen's reliability in the fight against terrorism.

The Interior Ministry said the attacks would not stop Yemen from "continuing its persistent efforts to fight terrorism and the terrorist elements of darkness that are trying to undermine the security and stability of the country and its interests."

Yemen is the ancestral homeland of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden and was the scene of the 2000 bombing of the destroyer USS Cole that killed 17 American sailors.

In the first attack, two suicide bombers drove "at great speed" toward the Dubba Port at 5:15 a.m. in an attempt to blow up storage tanks containing a "huge amount" of oil, the ministry said.

The driver of the first car was wearing a uniform similar to those worn by staff at the facility, and the second driver was dressed in a military uniform, the statement said.

It said guards at the port "managed to blow up the rigged cars before they reached their targets."

Bill and Hillary Clinton, and The democratic Party, are attempting to censor a movie due out on ABC this coming Sunday and Monday Night that is a documentary-style mini-series depicting events, and compositing some, that led up to 9/11 from 1993 to 2001.
I don't remember The President, or The Republican Party attempting the same with Fahrenheit 9/11.

I have to thank them for their attempt. They have re-energized me to stop anyone in their part from being elected. I will print up flyers and fact sheets and distribute them around town, my primary target will be Heath Shuler's Campaign in my congressional district.
These events have served to remind me of how very dangerous it is to ever allow the democratic party to regain power while the far-left progressives are calling the shots.

I also think that this will destroy ANY HOPE of Hillary becoming President. This will haunt her the rest of her days, and Bill Clinton will come out looking worse than Jimmy Carter (and that is quite a feat!) and his 30-year Legacy Building Project.

I am planning on attending the Charles taylor/Tom Tancredo Townhall on Immigration tomorrow at Blue Ridge Community College. I have purchased extra batteries and a memory card so I can take pictures and video of the event, and any protestors who show up.

This is an attempt to assess the Israeli Defence Forces' performance in round 1 of the recent war, based on a variety of published sources. The analysis will look at various components of the IDF in turn.

IAF Performance

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has come in for considerable criticism during the conflict. The majority of this has been more in relation to the strategic use of the Air Force as opposed to its actual tactical utility. However, the IAF's tactical utility, for so long unquestioned in Israel, needs to be examined.

Despite having excellent ISTAR and a formidably short kill chain the IAF was unable to interdict the small pockets of rocket firings from the border area into Northern Israel. F-15s and F-16s using GPS-gided JDAMs and laser-guided Paveway bombs, and armed UAVs, were all used. After 16 days of aerial bombardment Hezbollah was still quite capable of sustaining a barrage of 100 or more rocket firings against Israel, despite thousands of combat sorties by the IAF. Hezbollah is estimated to have some 1,250 launchers of all types of which about 300 were destroyed (or 25%). This IAF operational failure caused the IDF to mount a full blown invasion of the region to reduce Hizbollah's capability.

The major outcome os this conflict will, in my opinion, be a larger one in the future. I have a number of links on my sidebar, especially those in Israel, you should become familar with them if you want to understand the domestic repercussions of the conflict in Israeli politics. I hope that one of them will be the election of Bibi Netanyahu as the next Prime Minister of Israel.

Here is my response to every last American Citizen concerning conspiracy theories that hold the postion that the U.S. Government either perpetrated, or knew of the attacks beforehand:

If you truly believe this, and are not currently engaged in armed struggle against the government, then that leaves the following possibilities: (more than one may apply)

1. You are insane.

2. You are a coward.

3. You are in agreement.

I realize there are people out there who truly do not know what to think about these conspiracies. I have investigated these conspiracies, and the people who peddle them (often for profit), and have come to the conclusion that most, if not all of these people are nuts, and not a few of them are profiting from the murder of three thousand of their fellows. They are desecrating the memory of the dead, and are, in my view, more of an enemy than any Islamofascist.
I have yet to hold a debate with one of these whackos without them resorting to calling me names, or suggesting that I am part of a neo-con (code for Jew or Jew Lackey) cover up. Well, if that were true, then I am truly way underpaid...you would think that for my part in the cover up, I could at least swing a broadband connection!

Three Middle Eastern Men Found With 1000 Cell Phones, Now Face Charges

(TV5) -- The three suspects are now facing two counts each of Homeland Security Terrorism charges. All three suspects are due to be arraigned August 12th.

Around 1:00am August 11th the three men purchased cell phones from the Wal-Mart store on M-81 near the corner of M-24 in Caro. Wal-Mart places a limit on the number of cell phones that can be purchased at once, that number is three. The three men allegedly bought 80 by purchasing them three at time so that an alert wouldn't be triggered by the cash register. They also paid cash.

An alert clerk grew suspicious and called Tuscola County central dispatch. The Caro Police Department sent a unit and stopped the rented van on M-81 just east of Caro. The suspects were headed towards Bad Axe on M-81 where there is another Super Wal-Mart.

The three men are described as being of Palestinian descent but live in Texas. Police say the three, ages 19, 22, and 23 appear to be naturalized citizens.

One man was driving while the other two were in the back opening the phone packages with box cutters throwing the phones in one box, batteries in another and the packaging and phone charger in another container. The suspects had 1000 other cell phones in the van. There was also a bag of receipts showing that someone was in Wisconsin the day before.

The phones were Nokia TracFones selling for $20 at Wal-Mart. For your twenty dollars you receive a phone charger and 40 minutes of airtime. The phones do not have to be registered with a name. Also discovered was a laptop with store addresses and store logos.

Tim Nausler with the Michigan State Police bomb squad says this has all the tell tale signs of using cell phones to detonate bombs. He says you need two phones to detonate a bomb one to be with the explosive and the other to make the call to that phone. In some instances he says you can detonate with one phone using the alarm clock function.

The TracFones are a nationwide prepaid wireless phone service and are even offered with international long distance. These phones according to www.tracfone.com don't even have coverage in the Thumb area where they were purchased.

The men have been "cooperative, upfront, not hiding" anything according to police. They also told officers they get stopped frequently and say they buy the phones for $20 and sell them elsewhere for $38. They sell them without the packaging or charger.

The Caro Police Department, the FBI and the Homeland Security Terrorism Taskforce are involved in the case.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. yesterday, the Washington County Sheriff’s office was notified by employees at a Marietta, Ohio Radio Shack store. According to the employees, Abulhassan and Houssaiky were acting suspicious and that they refused to give their names when attempting to purchase nine of the phones.

I don't quite know how to respond to that question due to the necessity of war.
War is the equivalent of the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution for nation-states. Just as every person has the right to defend himself, so does every nation have the right to defend itself, and its citizens.

I question the mental stability, as well as the worldview that holds such a question as pertinent. One may question a war but not war itself.
As long as there are evil people, war will be required. Remove evil people, and there will be no war. Good Luck on not using war to get rid of them or the ideas that drive such people.

I have tried to engage such people in debate, and they always, always descend into name-calling and personal attacks. It is a sort of casting pearls thing I suppose.

Here is a key point: asked about the utility of an international force in southern Lebanon to stand between Israel and Hezbollah, peres replied,

They are mistaken. The confrontation is not on the ground. It is in the air. If these U.N. forces can stop Hezbollah from firing missiles and rockets, that is one thing. If they are going to fight Hezbollah, fine. But there is no point to have people on the ground to observe the missiles flying overhead. That is useless.

That is why Israel must press on to the bitter end in destroying Hezbollah as a highly lethal threat to Israel's hme territory. Hezbollah itself, as an organization, will survive and recontitute to some level after Israel's offensive actions cease. But a defanged Hezbollah that is incapable of launching increasingly long-ranged, increasingly deadly rockets at Israel's cities is infinitely preferable to what Israel faces today.

This means, of course, that the war cannot be ended on the basis of the status quo ante bellum. If the status quo had been tolerable to Israel, it would not have counter-struck last week. Besides, the status quo was changed by Hezbollah when it raided across the border, killed several Israeli soldiers and kidnaped two. It may be allowable, as some have observed, that hitting Israeli troops is a military, not terrorist, operation, but so what? It only means that Israel's military response is even more justifiable.

Today, I was introduced to a concept (5GW) that should have been self-evident.

Oh well, I never claimed to be a Vulcan.

Here are the basic concepts of each generation of warfare:

First Generation Warfare involved massed manpower, and lasted until the machine gun and indirect fire made such tactics suicidal.

Second Generation Warfare was based on massed firepower. Tactics relied on fire and movement, with heavy reliance on indirect fire from artillery. It was different, but still essentially linear.

Third Generation Warfare was based on maneuver and real time communications. It was best exemplified by World War II's "Blitzkrieg". The attack relied on infiltration to bypass, cut off and collapse the enemy's main combat forces rather than seeking to close with and destroy them.

Fourth Generation Warfare is based on dispersion and communications that remove the battle front entirely. Attackers rely on cultural/media attack and coordinated violent actions to and paralyze or collapse the enemy's political will, rather than seeking decisive combat.

I ran across the Malkin video, tried to come up with a way other than, "Look what I found!!!" I was going to say she was employing 4GW and found the 5GW references and got all excited. Lind brought me back down. I don't know if he is correct or not, or if this 5GW usage is premature; however, I will keep the post tiltle. I can't judge right now who is closer to the truth. I will, however, enjoy learning what people have to say about it.

Immigration Bill to Conference Committee

Senate Bill 2611 has passed the Senate and will go to Conference Committee soon to try to reconcile it with HR 4437.
As soon as the House and Senate members of this committee are announced, we need to bombard them with phone calls, emails, faxes, and even good oldfashioned letters and postcards. They need to know that we are watching them with intense interest and will remember and remind everyone else how they voted when the next election cycle comes around. I will do my best to keep you informed; however I will point you to some people who are on the point in this battle.

Another action I would suggest is to enlist others to get involved by keeping them informed. Call your local radio talk shows with information about this debate and how their Congressional Delegation has voted. Give out the local office numbers for your senators and representative on the air so people can get involved. Email a link to the NumbersUSA website to your friends. Donate money if you can/or don't have the time for citizen activism. One more thing, call the White House Comment Line at 202-456-1111 and leave a comment with the operator who answers your call. Be cordial, have a brief comment about your concerns prepared before you call, and stay on topic.

Numbers USA Information

STATUS: On May 25, the Senate concluded work on S. 2611, the “compromise” amnesty bill, when it passed by a 62-36 vote. If the bill became law in its current form, it would create the largest immigration increase in U.S. history – a disaster for American workers and taxpayers. S. 2611 would increase legal immigration by 60 million people over the next 20 years and grant amnesty to an estimated eight to 10 million illegal aliens. The Senate passed the bill despite recent polling indicating that Americans oppose amnesty and want legal immigration numbers reduced. The next step could be a conference committee with the House, which passed a strong enforcement-first immigration reform bill last December.

Immigration bill divide goes from miles to 'moons apart'

WASHINGTON - Asked recently how effective President Bush might be in upcoming congressional negotiations over an immigration bill, the point man in the House on the issue sidestepped the question.

"We have a great respect for the Senate," said House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis.

Sensenbrenner's reaction reflected the anger of many House Republicans toward the president as House and Senate members prepare for negotiations on what has become the president's top domestic priority.

Because of the wide differences between the bills passed by the two chambers, and because of the sharp divisions among Republicans, the deliberations are expected to be long, acrimonious and possibly futile.

So far, leaders of the House and Senate have not even been able to agree when to begin the conference committee's negotiations.

"The Senate and House started miles apart, and as a result of some amendments that were offered in the Senate, miles have become moons apart or oceans apart, (making) a difficult task even more so," Sensenbrenner said.

Iraqi Security Forces

Far fewer people believed in Nazism or in communism than believe in Islam generally or in authoritarian Islam specifically. There are one billion Muslims in the world. If just 10 percent believe in the Islam of Hamas, the Taliban, the Sudanese regime, Saudi Arabia, Wahhabism, bin Ladin, Islamic Jihad, the Finley Park Mosque in London or Hizbollah -- and it is inconceivable that only one of 10 Muslims supports any of these groups' ideologies -- that means a true believing enemy of at least 100 million people. Outside of Germany, how many people believed in Nazism? Outside of Japan, who believed in Japanese imperialism and militarism? And outside of universities, the arts world or Hollywood, how many people believed in Soviet-style totalitarianism?

War Progress Update: Swarms

This blog details tactics used by "global guerrillas," hence its name. The post that I linked to deals with the terror-tactic of swarming. As I understand it, this emulates the action of a swarm in nature, making it difficult for the target to respond effectively to the overall attack, killing or capturing a few of the many, leaving the attacking force mostly intact.

This is one of the tactics I have feared being used here if the terrorists had enough numbers.

Thunder Pig Redux

This blog has started and stopped in fits of attention and inattention. So far, I averaged about a post a month.
My original goal was to blog on World War Four as it happened, and as you can tell from the header, it still is.

My problem was I wanted it to be on par with USS Cluless or Bill Whittle. I had set my goals TOO HIGH for someone just starting out blogging and twenty years since school.

My personal blog, has provided me with some experience for the past six months or so. I've also learned some HTML, which Imay or may not be able to put to use. I also spend more than ten hours a day away from home, including commute time. Not a good recipe for what I have in mind.

I am now ready to re-launch the Thunder Pig Journal, where I will focus on this Fourth World War we are engaged in, and baring our sudden demise as a Superpower, will be reporting on all aspects of this war.

My personal opinion is that the ~~Main Stream~~Legacy Media have joined hands with the Government in in attempt to keep the civilians in the dark. The Media gets to pretend that Islam is a Religion of Peace, and the Government gets to investigate the case in relative obscurity.

It still galls me, though. One day, (and I pray it never comes) another horrble terrorist attack will take place. The OU Suicide Bombing should be used as an alarm bell to get people off their duffs and haranging their elected officials about a full court press on the Saudis and the Iranians. Let them know in their very bowels that we will not tolerate ANY PERCEIVED support of terrorists, whether it be overt or covert. DAMN THE TORPEDOES, FULL SPEED AHEAD!!!

The Beginning

The war for me began early in the morning of September 11th, only I didn't know who I was fighting against.
I was very afraid that they were home-grown. I wished with every fiber of my being that they weren't. The aftermath of the OKC bombing had resulted in the decimation of the militia movement, which had been a check on government power.

I didn't agree (still don't) with most of their philosophies, my feelings were that they were just exercising their 1st and 2nd amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution, and maybe, just maybe, protecting them as well.
Those that crossed the line were inevitably brought to justice.

All the over-reaction by the Clinton Administration did was drive the survivors underground, and fed the Conspiracy Theorists and Hate Mongers the very thing they fed upon: validation of their (inflated) power, distrust of a strong federal government actively watching its citizenry.

The Sick Fantasy Worlds of What If...

If September 11th had been perpetrated by local boys, I believe that we would be now waging a low-grade civil war in America today, with infrequent acts of terrorism and retaliation hogging the news cycle, and George W. Bush would have been resoundingly defeated in Nov 2004. And, perhaps even more important, the terrorists over seas would have been strengthened and given much comfort in our distress.

But it did not turn out that way.

The idea that out government, elements of or behind our government, or even of the Mossad perpetrating this act is absolutely preposterous.
I believe that no one really believes this who is an American citizen because there could only be one logical response: rebellion and sedition. Anyone who says otherwise is blowing smoke up your posterior or is mentally deficient (possibly both).
However, those that claim it is so do not believe it. It merely serves their dark purposes to promote whatever flavor of vomit they wish to spew.

In the Real World

In the real world, we have identified those responsible. The one who carried it out are awaiting final justice at the Hands of the Creator. 'nuff said.

We removed the Taliban from rule in Afghanistan, and continue mopping up operations while a fledgling government is brought forth.

We removed Saddam Hussein from his murderous perch in a very strategic location in the Middle East. We are mopping up the dregs, and providing history's largest ambush ever: The Flypaper Strategy. Terrorists and Wannabe Terrorists are forced into the open and killed, captured, or identified for tracking. Say what you will, intentional or not, it is working. The terrorists are too stupid to realise all they have to do is NOT ATTACK. Then, we WILL BE FORCED to leave.

Will we be attacked again?
Where will we go next?

I am no oracle.

I cannot tell you with any certainty. I can tell you what I think and what I wish, what I feel. I can even point my finger and say, "That government is not our friend, this one over there is our enemy and given the proper tools (and a Brain) will strike us down, this group of like-minded individuals in America wishes our downfall."

I will say all that and more.

I will not be politically correct.

Comment Policy

Have at it. As this is my house, what I say goes as far as crossing the line of decency. I am tolerant of other opinions, but not of threats of actual physical violence. Name calling will not cause you to be deleted, but that is really a thing for children at recess, not adults in conversation.

My situation only allows me perhaps a couple of hours between 3am and 6am to surf, and I'll try to be available for discussions in the comments section, and will try to post more missives as opportunity allows.
